Going Dizzy!

My latest drawings are quite different.
First of all they are on Clayboard which is a new surface to me and has the huge advantage that it can be sprayed with a fixative and doesn't need a heavy glass frame.
Second, the clay-surfaced hardboard has a two-inch deep support frame which, in my version, doesn't need anything but a spray painted edge of the appropriate color.
Here is one called Dizzy Four which is 30"x 30" and you will see why it has its title!

I am working here with an Op Art approach and plan a series. They look pretty impressive at this size and Kathleen has already accepted two for her Bonita Beach Road gallery. Just to remind you, the Kathleen Bradford Studio/Gallery has also several of my wood sculptures and Spatials.
This is a busy time. My Spatials are on show in the Harbour View Gallery at Cape Harbour, Cape Coral until the end of October and I am planning a show in Fort Myers for January/February.

Busy, busy.

It's that busy time again!
I have my Dizzy abstracts in the Bonita Springs Abstract Show and a Spatial in the Naples Show of Shows at the Von Liebig ( opening reception 5.30 to 8.30 on 6th Sept). Then I have been invited to be Visiting Artist again at the Harbour View Gallery in Cape Coral. I was in there last year with my wood sculptures -- this time it will feature my Spatials. Opening reception is 1st October 6 to 8pm
and that coincides with the opening of their extension to double the gallery size. Exciting!
Meanwhile I am working on commissions -- one beautiful client's grandchild and then two cute dogs.
The trouble is, working from home know I have to fight for space with Sharon who is producing these stunning and extremely colorful acrylic abstracts which she regularly shows at Bonita Art League.
A note for your diary -- I am talking about my Spatials on November 3rd in Kathleen's Gallery in a series she calls Art Buzz. It's a Sunday at 1pm so why not try to be there?

No Longer at the Promenade

After over four years happily working in my studio at the Promenade at Bonita Bay with Ed Takacs, we are out of there. The new owners have development plans for the beautiful mall
including an exciting sounding Gourmet Italian Market plus the promise of more stores and restaurants. We are all sorry to go.
So now my days have a different feel -- I am working from home once more. This seems to have encouraged Sharon to work harder on her acrylics and the result is a series of stunning colorful abstracts. Our home is now a studio and you can't move for half-finished and completed drawings, illustration boards and canvases.
I had most of my pet and children portraits generated by the studio and especially by the monthly Art Walks. So I expected a downturn in orders but not so -- I currently have two dog and one child portrait to do. I recently finished a very challenging commission. Drawing all seven grandchildren in one picture. Fourteen eyes!
Geometric Abstracts are progressing. My latest, Startrek Landing, inspired by the movie, is a departure from earlier formats. I liked it enough to experiment by having made a giclee at twice the size -- about 60 inches by 40. This is on show at present in the Coconut Point Coop Gallery if you wish to see it. The Coop is open Thursday to Sunday for the summer season.
